More often than not these days, when I meet someone new, I find I have been googled. This brings up what might be a puzzling array of links, from academic activities to animal disability and, more recently, fiction writing. These are all my sites and each has a Twitter link for communication and dissemination purposes. You will also find me on LinkedIn where more general details are listed.

most exciting virtual reality research project. This is based in Second Life which has had a mixed press, being seen primarily as a social game environment. However, there is a burgeoning scientific and business community already established in-world and the demographic indicates that a significant proportion of users are mature in age. Newly appointed to a Visiting Research Fellow post at the University of Brighton as part of Sussex Partnership's drive to promote NHS research by seconding clinicians to academic clinical research fellowships. This has already allowed me to develop two further projects towards funding bids and successfully engage interest in working on a virtual world project for children's services along with colleagues in Brighton, Chailey, and Northumbria. One project, using SenseCam for adults with learning disabilites, will be presented at a conference in Chicago shortly by Max Buchanan, a member of our psychology team.

Curious Minds conference, Surrey and Borders Partnership Trust, November 26th. This was an excellent conference and the staff at Leatherhead Leisure Centre could not have been more helpful. We achieved a live trip into the virtual world research environment via excellent broadband and media presentation connections.

Sussex Partnership Psychology Research and Audit conference December 1st. This was a really good platform for beginner and more seasoned researchers. Click here for the programme.

See Health Innovations Expo 2009. This took place at the ExCel Centre, London over June 18th and 19th and showcased innovative practice from all over the UK and elsewhere.
